Costa Rica Expedition 2018

Come and experience the most exciting photographic expedition in Central America. Our trips are designed to maximize your encounters with the beautiful wildlife that thrive in the rainforest. Our expert nature guide and photography instructor will ensure that you learn photographic skills, as well as the unique ecology of the rainforest as you travel through some of the most amazing landscapes Costa Rica has to offer. You will indulge in the rich culture of this breathtaking country, from the kindness of its people to the tantalizing flavors of their food. From the lowlands to the cloud forest, from awe-inspiring beaches to scenic mountains, you’ll see Costa Rica as few have seen it before. Your accommodations will vary as we stay in locally owned bed and breakfasts to high-end hotels. The trip will take you to a different place nearly every day in order to use the precious time to our advantage as we explore everything that Costa Rica has to offer. Whether you’re walking through the dense rainforest or driving along unpaved dirt roads watching the scenery pass by, you’ll know that you made the right choice in joining us for this once in a lifetime expedition.

Photography

Exposure techniques, flash exposure, handling low-light situations, approaching and working with our subjects, in the field macro techniques, multiple flash setup for high speed photography are among the many topics to be covered during this expedition. We’ll conduct on the spot image reviews, followed by nightly reviews and image backups. Your instructor will help you with the proper use of your equipment and with any questions you may have during the outings.

Tropical Studies

During the trip, you’ll be taught about the species that you encounter and how they interact with other species. Learn about the importance of rain and how it influences the lifestyle of the many species that live in the rainforest.

Itinerary Highlights

Visit several nature preserves and explore the dense jungles of the Caribbean slopes insearch of insects, frogs and birds.

Practice hi-speed hummingbird photography in one of the most beautiful settings in Costa Rica, San Gerardo de Dota.

Explore and live the challeges of shooting in the coastal tropical rainforest as well as the high altitude cloud forest of the Talamancas.

Meet some very beautiful but deadly snakes and dart frogs.
